The following document will provide you with information on how to clear your browser history, or perform a full browser reset. Additionally, you can also find information on what to do if you encounter the Browser Support page when trying to access one of Shaw's websites or services.

 

You may need to clear history or reset your browser if you are experiencing difficulty browsing the Internet, or if you have encountered an issue while trying to install a Shaw service, such as Shaw Secure. Please select your browser from the available list below to begin troubleshooting, or select the Browser Support link for support with this error.

Microsoft Edge

 

  1. Right-click the Start button
  2. Click Control Panel from the the resulting menu
  3. Open Internet Options
    1. Clear Browsing History
      1. Select the General tab in the window that appears
      2. Select the Delete option near the middle of the page

    2. Reset Browser
      1. Select the Advanced tab on the window that appears
      2. Select the Reset option at the bottom of the page

      4. Select the Reset button. You may need to close any open Microsoft Edge browsers before this operation will complete
      5. Open Microsoft Edge

Internet Explorer 8/9

Please note that Internet Explorer 8 and Internet Explorer 9 are no longer supported.

  1. Select your Start Menu then choose Control Panel
  2. Select Internet Options

      1. Select the General tab in the window that appears
      2. Select the Delete option near the middle of the page

Firefox

 

  1. Open your Firefox browser
  2. Select the Open Menu button at the top-right of the Firefox window
    1. Clear Browsing History
      1. Select History
      2. Select Clear Recent History
      3. Select desired time range (Everything will clear all browsing history)
      4. Select Clear Now
    2. Reset Browser
      1. Select Open Help Menu near the bottom-right of the Menu window

      3. Click on the Reset Firefox button in the upper-right corner of the Troubleshooting Information page

      4. Select Refresh Firefox in the confirmation window
      5. Firefox will restart

Google Chrome

 

  1. Open your Google Chrome browser
  2. Press the Control (Ctrl), Shift and Delete keys on your keyboard simultaneously to bring up your browsing history
  3. Check all boxes
  4. Click on the Clear Browsing Data button
  5. Close, and then re-open Google Chrome

Safari

 

  1. Open your Safari browser
  2. Click on the Safari option

      1. Select Clear History and Website Data
      2. Click Clear History on the next window
    2. Reset Browser
      1. Select Preferences
      2. Navigate to the Privacy tab
      3. Click Remove All Website Data
      4. Click Remove Now in the confirmation window
      5. Safari will restart automatically

Browser Support Error

 

The Browser Support error seen while trying to access a Shaw website or service suggests that your Internet browser is out of date, and will need to be updated before you can continue. The reason that this occurs is that many webpages, including Shaw.ca, are optimized for the most current browser versions available.

If you are using an older browser, you may also find that it does not meet the minimum security requirements to contact Shaw customer care using chat or email, and you may receive the following message when attempting to contact Shaw Customer Care through either of these methods:

 

“Your web browser lacks basic security requirements. This may have a negative impact on your Chat experience. Please upgrade your browser to the latest version or enable all SSL and TLS options in your browser settings”

*Internet Explorer Compatibility View Settings

 

If you are currently using Internet Explorer 8, 9, or 10 and are still unable to view this page you may need to disable the default compatibility view settings. To do this you will need to:

Internet Explorer 8:

  1. Open your Internet Explorer browser
  2. Click on Tools in the top right corner of your browser
  3. Select Compatibility View Settings
  4. Remove the check mark next to Display all websites in compatibility view
  5. Ensure that no Shaw.ca websites are included in the Websites you've added to compatibility view window
  6. Select Close and then refresh the Shaw.ca page you are trying to view (F5 on your keyboard)

Internet Explorer 9:

Please note that Internet Explorer 9 is no longer supported.

  1. Open your Internet Explorer browser
  2. Go to the Shaw.ca page that you would like to view (for example: www.shawconnect.ca)
  3. Click on the Compatibility View icon in the address bar of your browser to disable compatibility view settings on this page (setting disabled when not blue in colour. Example below)

 

 

Internet Explorer 10:

Please note that Internet Explorer 10 is no longer supported.

  1. Open your Internet Explorer browser
  2. Go to the Shaw.ca page you would like to view (for example: www.shawconnect.ca)
  3. Click on the Compatibility View icon in the address bar of your browser to disable compatibility view on this page (setting disabled when not solid colour. Example below)

 

 

 

Internet Explorer 11:

  1. Open your Internet Explorer browser
  2. Open your browser settings menu by clicking on the settings icon
  3. Select Compatibility View Settings
  4. Enter Shaw.ca into the "Add this website" field
  5. Click Add
