LG Optimus G Android PhoneLearn how to set up your Shaw email on your LG Optimus G phone. This guide will explain how to connect your LG Optimus G Android phone to WiFi and also demonstrate how to setup your Shaw email account through IMAP or an exchange server. IMAP email setup

The IMAP setup procedure described below is the preferred setup method for your Shaw.ca email address. To configure your phone/tablet to send and receive emails using IMAP:
 

  1. Select the APPS button on your Optimus G
  2. Select Email
  3. Tap IMAP
  4. Enter your Shaw email address and password
  5. Enter your username, which is your Shaw email address without @shaw.ca
  6. Select Next
  7. Enter the following incoming server settings:
    • IMAP server: imap.shaw.ca
    • Use SSL: Yes (add a check mark)
    • Accept all SSL Certificates: Yes (add a check mark)
    • Port: 993
  8. Choose Next
  9. If prompted, enter the following outgoing server settings:
    • SMTP server: mail.shaw.ca
    • Port: 587
    • Use SSL: Yes
  10. Select Next
  11. Choose which services you would like to sync (Mail)
  12. Select Next
  13. Tap Activate
  14. Enter an account name and select Done to finish setup

ActiveSync/Microsoft Exchange email setup

Exchange offers advanced mail handling, less confusion for accounts connected to multiple devices, and synchronization with calendars and contacts. Any emails sent from this device will appear on Webmail and any emails deleted from the device will also be deleted from Webmail and the server.
 
To configure your phone/tablet to send and receive emails using an Exchange Server:
 

  1. Select the APPS button on your Optimus G
  2. Select Email
  3. Tap Microsoft Exchange
  4. Enter your Shaw email address and password
  5. Enter your username, which is your Shaw email address without @shaw.ca
  6. Select Next
  7. Enter the following:
    • Server Address: wm.shaw.ca
    • Domain: shaw.ca
    • Use SSL: Yes (add a check mark)
    • Accept all SSL Certificates: Yes (add a check mark)
  8. Choose Next
  9. Choose which services you would like to sync (Mail, Contacts, and Calendar)
  10. Select Next
  11. Tap Activate
  12. Enter an account name and select Done to finish setup

WiFi setup

Follow these instructions to set up WiFi on your LG Optimus G phone.

  1. Press the MENU hardware button on your Optimus G
  2. Select System Settings
  3. Slide the Wi-Fi option to the On position
  4. Tap Wi-Fi
  5. Select the network that you would like to connect to
    • If you are using a Shaw Wireless Modem you will be able to find your network name by looking at the white sticker on the top of the modem*
  6. Enter the network password (unless the network is open and requires no password)
    • If you are using a Shaw Wireless Modem you will be able to find your network password by looking at the white sticker on the top of the modem*
  7. Select Connect

*If you cannot connect to WiFi and if you have customized your network name (SSID) and/or password and can no longer remember the login credentials, you will need to restore it to factory settings.
