  1. Make note of the modem’s Network Name and Password
    1. You’ll find the Network Name (SSID) and Password on a sticker at the bottom of the modem. Your SSID begins with SPSETUP. You will need these to set up your WiFi network later.

  1. Find the right spot to place your modem
    • Choose a central location in your home.
    • Must be near both coax cable and electrical outlets.
    • Ensure it is visible and elevated from the ground.
    • Avoid placing it in a cabinet or behind another object.
    • Avoid basement or underground locations.
    • Away from appliances, glass, electrical equipment and large metal objects.

  1. (Optional) Connect the splitter
If you are connecting the Shaw modem and a Shaw TV box to the same cable outlet, you will need a splitter and three (3) lengths of coax cable.
    1. Connect one end of coax cable to a coax cable outlet and the other end to the IN port on the splitter.
    2. Connect a second coax cable to the splitter and the modem.
      • You will connect the TV equipment to an electrical outlet later on.
    3. Connect a third coax cable (included in your TV box shipment) to the splitter and to CABLE IN or RF IN at the back of the TV box.
    4. Please move on to Step 4.b.

  1. Connect your modem
All cable connections must be hand-tight.
    1. Connect the coax cable to your modem and the wall cable outlet. (Be sure to hand-tighten each end.)
    2. Connect the power cord to your modem and an electrical outlet.
    3. (Optional) If you have a desktop computer near the modem, connect the ethernet cable to the computer and the modem.

Note: If you have more Shaw equipment to install, you can do so now and contact us at shaw.ca/chat or 1-844-574-7429. You will connect the TV equipment to an electrical outlet after you contact us.

  1. Contact us to activate your modem
    • Contact us at 1-844-574-7429 or chat through the My Shaw app.

  2. Wait for the modem to activate
    • While activating, the light will change various colours. Do not unplug it during this process. When you see the light stay solid white for 2 minutes, please move on to the next step.

  3. Set up your WiFi network
    • If you're using a wireless device, access the WiFi settings, select the modem's Network Name (SSID) and join using the password from step one. Once connected, open your Internet browser and type 10.0.0.1 into the address bar and press Go. Follow the onscreen prompts to customize your network name and password. Make note of your new Network Name and Password.

    • (Optional) If you're using a desktop computer connected to the modem with the provided ethernet cable, open your internet browser and type 10.0.0.1 into the address bar and press Enter. Follow the onscreen prompts to customize the network name and password, if you haven't already done so. Make note of your new Network Name and Password.

    • If the network setup page asks for a username and password, use the following:

      Username: admin
      Password: password

  4. Connect your devices to WiFi
    • Access the WiFi settings on all your devices, select your modem’s new Network Name (SSID) and join using the new password.

You're good to go! Enjoy seamless surfing and streaming!
