Latest Version iOS 11

These settings have been updated for the latest version of the iPhone and iPad mobile operating system, iOS 11.

 

Recommended Settings

The settings included below are for an ActiveSync (Exchange) email account, which is the recommended account type for your Shaw email. For detailed instructions on how to setup your email account, please see the ActiveSync (Exchange) Setup Instructions section below.

Account Types

There are three different ways you can set up your Shaw email account on your device or email client. These include ActiveSync (Exchange), IMAP, and POP. Generally, we suggest using the ActiveSync email setup method, but each has its own benefits. Check out the comparison chart below for a bit more information on the differences between ActiveSync, IMAP, and POP.

**Desktop/Laptop may not be compatible with certain email clients. IMAP is the recommended alternative in these cases.

ActiveSync (Exchange) setup instructions
  1. Open Settings
  2. Depending on your iOS Version:
    1. iOS 11 (latest): select Accounts & Passwords
    2. iOS 10: select Mail
    3. iOS 9 and earlier: select Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  3. Select Add Account
    • Select Exchange
    • Enter your Shaw email address
    • Enter a description for the account
    • Click Next
  4. A prompt for "Sign in to your Shaw.ca Exchange account using Microsoft?" will appear
    1. Select Configure Manually
    2. Enter your Shaw Email Password
  5. Enter server settings
    • Email: Your Shaw email address
    • Server: wm.shaw.ca
    • Domain: shaw.ca
    • Username: Your Shaw email without @shaw.ca
    • Password: Your Shaw email password
  6. Choose sync settings
  7. Select Save

IMAP setup instructions
  1. Open Settings
  2. Depending on your iOS Version:
    1. iOS 11 (latest): select Accounts & Passwords
    2. iOS 10: select Mail
    3. iOS 9 and earlier: select Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  3. Select Add Account
    1. Select Other
    2. Select Add Mail Account
    3. Enter your NameShaw email address and password
    4. Enter a description for the account
    5. Select Next
  4. Enter the following information
    • IMAP Account Information
      • Name: Your Name
      • Email: Your Shaw email
      • Description:
    • Incoming Mail Server
      • Host Name: imap.shaw.ca
      • User Name: Shaw email without @shaw.ca
      • Password: Your email password
    • Outgoing Mail Server
      • SMTP: mail.shaw.ca
  5. Select Done

 

*Entry not required during initial account setup. This setting is automatically defined by the application.
