The Portal component of your hardware equipment accesses content from the Shaw Gateway system and is required for each TV in the home that you wish to access the system on.
Arris Portal Specs
With the Arris MP2150 Portal connected to your TV, you can view HD channels and full HD quality 1080p Video On Demand content made available to you through your Shaw Gateway system. In addition to this, you can record up to 6 programs simultaneously while playing back a previously recorded program, and view 3D* content in MPEG4 format up to 1080p resolution.
To view in HD: connect an HDMI cable between your TV and Portal for picture and audio (HDMI carries both picture and audio). Alternatively, you can connect a component (red, green, blue) cable for video, and an RCA (red, white) cable for audio.
If you do not have an HD TV (i.e. component or HDMI ports are not available on the input panel of your TV): you can use a RCA/composite cable between your TV and Portal. You will be able to view and access HD channels, however, the picture will be displayed in standard definition.See Wiring Diagrams below for a visual explanation of the setup options.
