Samsung Galaxy Note 3 PhoneLearn how to connect your Samsung Note 3 phone to WiFi as well as how to setup your Shaw email account through an Exchange server.  While there are three options for setting up your email on a Samsung Note 3 phone, the preferred set up method is ActiveSync/Exchange. Microsoft Exchange (ActiveSync) is the most convenient way to setup your email and is recommended as it is the best option for users looking to check mail worldwide and from different computers/devices.

Preferred email setup: ActiveSync/Microsoft Exchange

To configure your Samsung Galaxy Note 3 phone to send and receive emails using an Exchange Server:


  1. Ensure that your email account password meets the minimum security requirements
  2. Tap Menu
  3. Select Settings
  4. Tap General
  5. Select Accounts and then tap Add Account
  6. Select Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync
  7. Enter your email address and password, then select Manual Setup
  8. Enter the following:
    • Domain/Username: Your Shaw email address with
    • Password: Your Shaw email password
    • Exchange Server:
    • Use Secure Connection (SSL): Yes (add a check mark)
    • Use Client Certificate: No (no check mark)
  9. Select Next
  10. If prompted with an Activation check, select OK
  11. Choose your account sync preferences, then press Next
  12. Name your account
  13. Select Done

WiFi setup

To connect your Samsung Note 3 smartphone to your wireless (WiFi) network, follow these steps:

  1. On the Application screen, tap Settings
  2. Select Connections
  3. Drag the Wi-Fi switch to the right, then tap Wi-Fi
  4. Select the network that you would like to connect to
  5. Enter the network password. (unless the network is open and requires no password)
  6. Press Connect


If you are using a Shaw wireless modem you can find your network name and password by looking at the white sticker on the top of the modem*.

* If you have customized your network name (SSID) and/or password and can no longer remember the login credentials, you will need to restore it to factory settings.
