If you've got a new HTC M8 smart phone and want to set it up to connect to your Shaw Internet and Shaw email account, you can follow the instructions below to get started. For more information on the differences between Exchange, IMAP and POP, please see the following article: Mail Help - ActiveSync, POP and IMAP.

WiFi Setup

 

  1. Tap Apps
  2. Select the Settings app
  3. Touch the WiFi On-Off toggle to enable WiFi
  4. Tap WiFi to see a list of available networks
  5. Select your WiFi network from the list
  6. Enter your network password
  7. After a few moments you should now be connected to WiFi

 

If you are using a Shaw wireless modem, you can find your WiFi network name and password on a white sticker on the back or side of the device.

Shaw Go WiFi provides you with a Shaw Internet experience beyond the home. As a Shaw Internet customer, you can access a huge network of super-fast WiFi locations all over your city for no additional cost. So you can stay connected, whether you're sipping a latte, waiting for a train, or even working out at the gym.

Microsoft Exchange Email Setup

 

  1. Tap the Apps icon
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap the General tab
  4. Tap Accounts & Sync
  5. Tap Add Account
  6. Select Microsoft Exchange
  7. Enter your Shaw email account and password
  8. Select Manual Setup
  9. Enter the following:
      • Server address: wm.shaw.ca
      • Domain: Your Shaw email address
      • Use Secure Connection (SSL): Yes (add a check mark)
  10. Choose Next
  11. Choose which services you would like to sync (Mail, Contacts and Calendar)
  12. Tap Activate
  13. Enter a name for your account (for example "My Shaw Account"), then tap Next
  14. Tap Done to complete the setup

IMAP Email Setup

 

To set up your Shaw email account on your Android device using the IMAP configuration, you will require the following pieces of information. Before you begin, please ensure that your Shaw email password meets the minimum security requirements.

 

  1. Tap the Apps icon
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap the General tab
  4. Tap Accounts & Sync
  5. Tap Add Account
  6. Select IMAP
  7. Enter your Shaw email and password

 

When required, enter the following details. Not all of these settings may be requested.

 

Option 1: Mail Settings with SSL

Incoming Mail Server Information:

Mail Server (Host Name): imap.shaw.ca

Incoming Port: 993

Security Type: SSL

Username: Shaw email without @shaw.ca

Password: Your email password

Outgoing Mail Server Information:

Mail Server (Host Name): mail.shaw.ca

Outgoing Port: 587

Security Type: TLS

Username: Shaw email without @shaw.ca

Password: Your email password

 

If available, please select the option to "accept all certificates" for both the SSL and TLS security types.

 

SSL or "Secure Sockets Layer" works to keep your information secure. We highly recommend enabling it on your email setup configuration to help keep your information safe. If you would prefer to disable SSL authentication on your mail client you can use the steps below. 

 

 

Option 2: Mail Settings without SSL

Incoming Mail Server Information:

Incoming Mail Server:imap.shaw.ca

Incoming Port: 143

SSL: No

Username: Shaw email without @shaw.ca

Password: Your email password

Outgoing Mail Server Information:

Outgoing Mail Server: mail.shaw.ca

Outgoing Port: 25

SSL: No

Username: Shaw email without @shaw.ca

Password: Your email password

POP Email Setup

 

To set up your Shaw email account on your Android device using the POP/SMTP configuration, you will require the following pieces of information. Before you begin, please ensure that your Shaw email password meets the minimum security requirements.

 

  1. Tap the Apps icon
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap the General tab
  4. Tap Accounts & Sync
  5. Tap Add Account
  6. Select POP
  7. Enter your Shaw email account and password information
  8. Tap Manual Setup
  9. Enter the following:
      • Username: Your Shaw email address without @shaw.ca
      • Password: Your Shaw email password
      • POP3 Server: pop.shaw.ca
      • Security Type: None
      • Port: 110
  10. Select Next
  11. Enter the following:
      • SMTP Server: mail.shaw.ca
      • Security Type: TLS (Accept all certificates)
      • Server Port: 587
      • Require Sign-in: Yes (add a check mark)
      • Username: Your Shaw email address without @shaw.ca
      • Password: Your Shaw email password
  12. Select Done
