This page will cover everything you need to know to get your Shaw email setup in the Windows 10 Mail program. All of the required Settings are below, followed by a detailed walk-through under Instructions. Settings

 

The settings included below are for an ActiveSync (Exchange) account, which is the preferred method for Shaw email accounts. For different account types, such as IMAP and POP, please see the Account Types section.

Instructions

 

The settings included below are for an ActiveSync (Exchange) account, which is the preferred method for Shaw email accounts. For different account types, such as IMAP and POP, please see the Account Types section.

 

  1. Launch your Email App
    1. Press the WINDOWS key on your keyboard to access the Windows 10 Start menu
    2. Select Mail
  2. Add an email account
    1. Click the Settings icon

    2. Click Accounts
    3. Click Add Account
    4. Under Choose an account, click Advanced setup at the bottom of the list (Example 1)
    5. Click Exchange ActiveSync (Example 2)
  3. Enter Exchange settings (Example 3)
    1. Email address: Your Shaw email address
    2. Password: Your Shaw email password
    3. User name: Your Shaw email without @shaw.ca
    4. Domain: shaw.ca
    5. Server: wm.shaw.ca
    6. Server requires encrypted (SSL) connection: Yes (add a check mark)
    7. Account name: optional
  4. Click Sign-in

Account Types

 

Which Email Setup is Right for Me?

 

There are three different ways you can set up your Shaw email account on your device or email client. These include ActiveSync (Exchange), IMAP, and POP. Generally, we suggest using the ActiveSync email setup method, but each has its own benefits. Please see the comparison chart below for a bit more information on the differences between ActiveSync, IMAP, and POP.

IMAP Instructions

 

  1. Launch your Email App
    1. Press the WINDOWS key on your keyboard to access the Windows 10 Start menu
    2. Select Mail
  2. Add an email account
    1. Click the Settings icon
    2. Click Accounts
    3. Click Add Account
    4. Under Choose an account, click Advanced setup at the bottom of the list
    5. Click Internet email
  3. Enter Internet email account settings
    1. Incoming email server: imap.shaw.ca
    2. Account type: IMAP4
    3. Email address: Your Shaw email address
    4. User name: Your Shaw email without @shaw.ca
    5. Password: Your Shaw email password
    6. Outgoing (SMTP) mail server: mail.shaw.ca
      • Outgoing server requires authentication: Yes
      • Use the same user name and password for sending mail: Yes
      • Require SSL for incoming mail: Yes
      • Require SSL for outgoing mail: Yes
  4. Click Sign-in

POP Instructions

 

  1. Launch your Email App
    1. Press the WINDOWS key on your keyboard to access the Windows 10 Start menu
    2. Select Mail
  2. Add an email account
    1. Click the Settings icon
    2. Click Accounts
    3. Click Add Account
    4. Under Choose an account, click Advanced setup at the bottom of the list
    5. Click Internet email

    3. Email address: Your Shaw email address
    4. User name: Your Shaw email without @shaw.ca

      • Use the same user name and password for sending mail: Yes
      • Require SSL for incoming mail: Yes
      • Require SSL for outgoing mail: Yes
