Windows Phone logoLearn how to set up your Shaw email on a Windows Mobile device. This guide will demonstrate how to setup your Shaw email account through an exchange server (our preferred email set up method). Microsoft Exchange (ActiveSync) is the most convenient way to setup your email and is recommended as it is the best option for users looking to check mail worldwide and from different computers/devices. When Exchange is not compatible with certain email clients, IMAP is the recommended alternative.

ActiveSync/Microsoft Exchange email setup

The Microsoft Exchange setup procedure described below is our recommended setup method for your Shaw.ca email address. To configure your Windows phone/tablet to send and receive emails using an Exchange Server:
 

  1. Select Settings Settings icon
  2. Tap email + accounts
  3. Tap add an account
  4. Tap Outlook
  5. Enter the following:
    • Email address: Your Shaw email address
    • Password: Your Shaw email address password
  6. Tap Sign In
  7. An error message will appear saying We couldn't find your settings
  8. Enter the Following:
    • Email Address: Your Shaw email address
    • Password: Your Shaw email password
    • Username: Your Shaw email address without @shaw.ca
    • Domain: shaw.ca
  9. Tap Advanced
    • Server, enter: wm.shaw.ca
  10. Tap Show All Settings, and set the following:
    • Server Requires Encrypted (SSL) Connection: Yes (add a check mark)

IMAP or POP setup

Follow these instructions to set up your Shaw email on a Windows phone using IMAP or POP server settings.

POP Settings

Incoming server settings

  1. Ensure that your Shaw.ca email account password meets the minimum security requirements
  2. Select Settings Settings icon
  3. Tap Email + Accounts
  4. Tap Add an account
  5. Tap Advanced Setup
  6. Enter the following:
    • Email address: Your Shaw email address
    • Password: Your Shaw email address password
  7. Tap Next
  8. Tap Internet Email
  9. Enter the following:
    • Account Name: Add a descriptive name for this account
    • Your Name: Type in your name
    • Incoming Email Server (for IMAP): imap.shaw.ca
      • for POP: pop.shaw.ca
    • Account Type (for IMAP): IMAP
      • for POP: POP3
    • User name: Your Shaw email address without @shaw.ca
    • Password: Your Shaw email password
    • Outgoing (SMTP) Email Server: mail.shaw.ca
    • Outgoing Server Requires Authentication: Yes (add a check mark)
    • Use the Same User Name and Password for Sending Email: Yes (add a check mark)
  10. Tap Advanced Settings and verify that your settings are correct
  11. Tap Sign in

Did You Know?

 

If you cannot connect to WiFi and if you have customized your network name (SSID) and/or password and can no longer remember the login credentials, you will need to restore it to factory settings.
