Here we'll cover everything needed to get your Shaw email setup on a Windows Mobile device. All of the required Settings are below, followed by a detailed walk-through under Instructions. The settings included below are for an ActiveSync (Exchange) account, which is our recommended setup. For different account types, such as IMAP and POP, please see the Account Types section.

Instructions

 

The settings included below are for an ActiveSync (Exchange) account, which is our recommended setup. For different account types, such as IMAP and POP, please see the Account Types section.

 

  1. Ensure that your Shaw.ca email account password meets the minimum security requirements
  2. Select Settings Settings icon
  3. Tap email + accounts
  4. Tap add an account
  5. Tap Outlook
  6. Enter the following:
      • Email address: Your Shaw email address
      • Password: Your Shaw email address password
  7. Tap Sign In
  8. An error message will appear saying We couldn't find your settings
  9. Enter the Following:
      • Email Address: Your Shaw email address
      • Password: Your Shaw email password
      • Username: Your Shaw email address without @shaw.ca
      • Domain: shaw.ca
  10. Tap Advanced
      • Server, enter: wm.shaw.ca
  11. Tap Show All Settings, and set the following:
      • Server Requires Encrypted (SSL) Connection: Yes (add a check mark)
  12. Tap Sign in
  • An error message will appear saying We couldn't find your settings
  • Enter the Following:
      • Email Address: Your Shaw email address
      • Password: Your Shaw email password
      • Username: Your Shaw email address without @shaw.ca
      • Domain: shaw.ca
  • Tap Advanced
      • Server, enter: wm.shaw.ca
  • Tap Show All Settings, and set the following:
      • Server Requires Encrypted (SSL) Connection: Yes (add a check mark)
  • Tap Sign in

Which Email Setup is Right for Me?

 

There are three different ways you can set up your Shaw email account on your device or email client. These include ActiveSync (Exchange), IMAP, and POP. Generally, we suggest using the ActiveSync email setup method, but each has its own benefits. Check out the comparison chart below for a bit more information on the differences between ActiveSync, IMAP, and POP..

IMAP Instructions

 

  • Enable Remote Access on your Shaw email account
  • Ensure that your Shaw.ca email account password meets the minimum security requirements
  • Select Settings Settings icon
  • Tap Email + Accounts
  • Tap Add an account
  • Tap Advanced Setup
  • Enter the following:
    • Email address: Your Shaw email address
    • Password: Your Shaw email address password
  • Tap Next
  • Tap Internet Email
  • Enter the following:
    • Account Name: Add a descriptive name for this account
    • Your Name: Type in your name
    • Incoming Email Server: imap.shaw.ca
    • Account Type: IMAP
    • User name: Your Shaw email address without @shaw.ca
    • Password: Your Shaw email password
    • Outgoing (SMTP) Email Server: mail.shaw.ca
    • Outgoing Server Requires Authentication: Yes (add a check mark)
    • Use the Same User Name and Password for Sending Email: Yes (add a check mark)
  • Tap Advanced Settings and verify that your settings are correct
  • Tap Sign in

POP Instructions
