Checking the battery level

If your Ignite TV remote control is not responding or functioning as expected, you should check your battery levels to see if the batteries should be replaced. There are several ways to check the battery level of the Ignite TV remote control:

Using your voice:

  1. Hold the microphone button on the Ignite TV remote control.
  2. Say "About".
  3. The resulting screen on your TV will show the Ignite TV remote control's battery level, as seen below.

You can also check the battery level via the Ignite Guide:

  1. Press Shaw button on the remote
  2. Use the arrow buttons to select Settings (the gear icon)
  3. Use the down arrow button to highlight About and press OK

    2. XR15 (2020 model): Press the A and D buttons on the remote until the LED at the top of the remote changes from red to green
  2. Press 9 - 9 - 9
  3. The LED will blink to indicate the battery level.
    • 4 green blinks indicate that the battery power is excellent
    • 3 green blinks indicate that battery power is good
    • 2 red blinks indicate that battery power is low
    • 1 red blink indicates that the battery power is very low and that the batteries should be replaced
  4. If your LED blinks red five times when pressing any button, this indicates that your battery power is extremely low and the batteries should be replaced as soon as possible.

  2. Press 9 - 8 - 1
  3. The LED will blink green twice to indicate that the remote was reset
  4. After the factory reset is complete, you'll need to re-pair your remote with a TV box. See our article on Programming your Ignite TV Remote for information on pairing your remote control with your cable box.

Note: Pairing the remote to a TV box means that the remote will control only that box unless it is paired to a different box. If you have multiple TV boxes and have paired your remote to one of your TV boxes, make sure that you are not using the remote that is paired to that specific cable box.
