From the Digital Home Forum:
Shaw's high prices are shedding quite a bit of cable customers. For the 2nd quarter, results released Shaw lost 29,829 video customers. (2nd quarter)
When you combine 1st and 2nd quarter results they lost 53,741 for the six months so far. This is the only part of their business where they are losing customers.
"Revenue for the six month period of $423 million increased 0.7% over the same period last year primarily due to rate increases partially offset by increased promotional activity and lower customer growth."
The key part of the small revenue increase (0.7%) was "primarily due to rate increases."
Shaw's Given Up On Competing.
Shaw's quarterly report is in the investor section of their web site: http://www.shaw.ca/Corporate/Investors/Financial-Reports/

Shaw doesn't seem to care. this has been on going quarter after quarter. There answer is, some time in the future will add more HD channels,it's coming soon and all customers are asking just give us what other telecom providers give there customers in the form of HD channels that bell ,or telus have or any other provider have in Canada. There answer just vague promises that vaporizes quarter after quarter.Price increase can only work for awhile people actually what value for there money.IT'S losing game.Maybe Shaw doesn't care about there cable side of there business as there other side take up the slack, how else does it make cents.
We are happy to announce that we will be launching Comedy HD by end of day on Monday, April 22nd.
If you currently receive Comedy in SD, you will automatically receive the HD channel.
This service is MPEG4 and will be on channel 275 (varies on HD Guide).
Note: DNU completion is not a requirement for this channel launch.
Will Comedy network also be on a free preview with the launch of the HD equivalent?
At the moment, we don't have any details on whether it will be on a free preview, but we would list it here if it was: Shaw - TV:News and Free Previews
There was a small change of plans, and the channel will be launched later tonight. Depending on the type of hardware you have, you may not see it in the Guide until the morning (non-Gateway and non-HD Guide hardware should see the channel show up tonight).
