Troubleshooting Intermittent Connectivity

Discussion created by jeremyj84 on Nov 4, 2013

Over the past week I have been seeing intermittent connectivity, I was wondering what sort of information I can gather that could assist Shaw in trackiing any possible issue, I have done all the standard troubleshooting, the problem appears to beyond the local gateway. I have a machine directly connected to the modem that runs mtr every minute and records the results. Is there anything beyond the standard information (ping/traceroute) that Shaw technicians could use to narrow down the issue? I also have a remote server doing the reverse (traceroute to my shaw IP from outside). I understand that issues like this are very difficult to catch in the act and would love to assist in any way possible to improving the experience for myself as well as others who are more than likely affected by the same issue.
