I have a DCX3400 M. It has locked up repeatedly and nothing works over the past 2 weeks. The fix is to unplug the power and reboot it. Is this a known problem with this model and what can I do to fix this.
Are you using an Expander with your DCX3400?
No I do not have an expander
Were you able to try some of the troubleshooting steps in the article I shared?
Yes and it locked up an hour later after I did them. It locks up and the time display stays at the time that it Happenned.
I think a reset from our end would be a good thing to try next dennis619.
I've sent you a direct message. Please check your Community Inbox and reply back to me there.
The reset did not make a difference. I then took the box into the Shaw office thinking they could look at it. They could not, and suggested I phone their support number to report the problem. Support was scheduled to come and investigate two weeks later. I reinstalled the box and it has not failed since then. When the service guy called to say he was on his way I told him not to bother. The only thing I can surmise is pulling it out and bouncing it around a little solved the problem.
Hello again dennis619
How strange. Did you hook it up with the same. power, coaxial cable and HDMI cables?
Glad its working again and hope it stays that way!
Everything was exactly as before. I just unhooked it at the back of the unit, took the unit out, bounced it around in my car and re-installed it.
Interesting. I'm not sure I can suggest this as a troubleshooting step for other customers though....haha
Let us know if it starts to act up again.
My suspicion would be the extended power disconnect
There is a bug that causes lockups when using an Expander, otherwise, not a known issue that I am aware of
No, this is not a known issue with this box. Thought this article does not match the issue you are having please try the Steps under "Resolving the Issue" and let us know if that helps https://community.shaw.ca/docs/DOC-1028
Thank you and hope you're having a great weekend!
