The USGP Formula 1 race in Austin this Sunday is not being shown live on TSN or TSN2, but it is live on NBC. Will the live NBC feed be blacked out in Canada on Shaw?
I looked in to this for you, as you mentioned the US Grand Prix will air live on NBC at 11:00 AM PST, and on TSN 2 a delayed feed will be shown at 7:00 PM PST. It looks like this is because the main TSN network has CFL Playoff Football coverage at that time and TSN 2 has NASCAR Racing (Sprint Cup: Ford EcoBoost 400) coverage.
We checked with our video operations team, who often get notified in advance of any blackouts and they haven't received any notice of a blackout for this race. We also tried calling both NBC and TSN master control and they had no information on this either.
So at this point, I'd have to assume it should air just fine live on NBC. I'm going to set both times to record myself though, just in case.
Good question. I too would like to know the answer. I'm guessing it won't be blacked out. I know all the Speed coverage used to be blacked out, and we don't get NBC Sports Network (the new regular broadcaster in the US). But I don't remember the NBC coverage ever being blacked out previous years, but I think most of their previous broadcasts were on tape delay.
Now the tough decision. Wait for the BBC/Sky (UK) announcers (TSN2 at 5pm PT), or get the live US broadcast. Likely be watching it via PVR anyway. Hmm.
Thanks for the info Guys, will set it to record the TSN airing and hopefully watch it live on NBC.
