I am a new Shaw customer and got the Gateway/Portal installed 2 months ago. Today I got another portal installed and it's a new model then the "old" ones. What's different and new with these?
The main difference between the old and new Portals is the touch interface on the front and the addition of an IR tether option. Otherwise, the two devices are functionally identical. There's more information on this unit here:
THere is one more difference, a white lcd.
the other portals have. Blue lcd.
Any word on whether we 2000 owners can exchange for the 2150? (Left unresolved elsewhere on the forums.)
I'm coming to the conclusion the tether may be something I could use, but I don't really want to pay for a 2150 just for a tether.
Sorry that you haven't had a definitive answer on this. We have no information at this time that we will be providing trade-ups for the Arris 2000 Portal for the 2150. My guess is that this would be unlikely.
Was worth a shot. Though I had assumed that was going to be the answer.
