Hi..I just updated my PVR and INTERNET. I had recorded a few shows, but cannot watch them for all I see is pixilation and then another channel comes and goes in it. (not all shows though) Is anyone else having this problem?
Is the live programming tiling as well? It could be specific to the channel, a challenge with the program itself, or a signal source issue. The PVR will only record what it sees, so I have to assume for the moment that the channel itself was creating the challenge.
If there was a set top box where your new PVR is and it didn't have problems with the channel, there may simply be a miss connection from the wall plate to the Set top box. If it was a self install, I would suggest retracing the steps used to install the new PVR and be sure all the connectors and connection points are seated correctly.

This happened on recording a couple of different channels. The new PVR was installed by Shaw rep. I was watching another channel while recording and no, there was no problem with that channel.
There is one recording that has the full show, but the audio is choppy and was skipping...at this time, I was watching another recording that had no problems.
These problems starting happening only with the new 'updated" pvr...my old Motorola had no problems of this kind.
There could be a couple of reasons for the tiling then. Our channels arrive at the home in groups essentially, and there may be an impairment on one group of channels but not another. This can create the symptoms you are describing. There is also a possibility that the challenge was specific to the program itself (one time incident), or the the drive of the PVR. Some PVR's will be slightly more or less sensitive to these impairments.
What PVR got installed for you?
Hi..ok..well, it happened on different days and different times of day.
The PVR installed is a small, motorola, dolby..I found a number on the front DCX3510-M
The Shaw Rep took the box with him.

Was the issue on just one or two recorded programs? Have other recordings on the same two channels also had challenges? It may be good to run a few recordings on the same channels again to see if the challenge has persisted.
The recording was done on different channels, different times, different days, different programs. Some were HD, some not, so not very consistent..I have recorded the same programs on different days and was able to watch them.
just tried it again on a program that was having problems before and yes, it began all pixed and had HLN coming in, but I fast forwarded it and it went away in the middle of the show..unlike the other times and other programs recorded with problems...I fast forwarded them as well and it did not fix.

What you are describing sounds like it could be a signal issue or a problem with the hard drive in that PVR. When you are watching the shows live do you get the pixelation or HLN cutting into the program?

Failing this we may need to look getting a tech out there to check everything throughly.
You are the not the first person from Shaw to mention a bad signal problem in our area so that is one I am not surprised at. I have been told that several times when calling in with a problem. Surely, I can't be the only one in my area to have these problems...should Shaw not see if updating in this area be done?
Something happened last night...I was watching a show and all of a sudden the screen went blank and on the front of the pvr, I see BOOT...then it changed to APP...I was just about to call Shaw and then Tv came back so I will keep an eye on this and see what happens with the shows I will be recording today. Doing all the things you mentioned on your last note is not easy for me..getting behind my tv is difficult process and I am no longer as agile as I used to be....sorry about that.

Hello again..I apologize for monopolizing you...just wanted to report that I went into a program that I recorded about a couple of hours ago along with another program, so recording 2 programs and watching another recorded program.
The one I wanted to watch first was picture perfect, however, had NO Audio whatsoever...I tried to fast forward a few times, but still had no Audio....so started watching the other program I recorded at the same time and it was fine..no problems at all.
I am now recording the problem program again on Thursday and hope it works this time.
I'm sorry to hear about the issues you have been experiencing with the signal and it is no problem with monopolizing us in that we want to make sure everything is working out for you. I hope the next recording works out on Thursday.
In the meantime, I would suggest that you test out recording a program at the same time as watching it, making sure you are on the same channel as you are recording from. A half hour program should suffice and maybe from the same channel as you have experienced issues with.
If you found watching the live airing didn't result in any tiling, play back the recording back to see if it is tiling or the audio is missing. If there are issues with the recording but not the live airing of the show, then the issue is most likely the hard drive and you will need a service technician to investigate further. Let us know if you need a moderator to contact you to make arrangements for a service call.

Hello: It has been a few days with no tiling when watching a recorded program. Last night it happened on a program and have lost it. It was tiled and black screen was coming in and out so tiling and black..tiling and black. The difference was that another program did not come in and out.
I thought you should be advised.
I'll have one of our shaw-moderator DM you to further investigate the issues with the PVR. It could be just a simple matter that there were issues in your area affecting the reception but it might be best to have a tech come out to check the feed to the PVR.
Ok..so I thought I would get through a whole week without having to contact you, but.... I was watching a movie that I recorded the other day and it was going fine until the last 30 minutes...could not watch it. The sound was good, but the picture were just stripes with frozen pictures of the movie within the stripes. Not able to finish the movie. Please see above message. Janet was going to have one of your Shaw Monderator DM me. Don't know what DM means but Noone contacted me. I am, to say the least, getting extremely frustrated and if it means having someone come out to check things or replace the darn PVR, I would appreciate it. Like the router that had to be replaced because it was a dud, maybe the same should happen to the PVR.

Hi, this is Miriam Quarin in Prince George and have had so many problems with my new updated PVR from Shaw and was told that this would be fixed after the Winter Olympics and it was. I have had NO problems until this last weekend. My digital box was "rebooted" by shaw for some reason (not by request) and ever since then what I have recorded has quite a bit of "tiling" and freezing. After that "boot" from Shaw, I also had problems with my Internet connection, which was fixed when I called Shaw and when I did, a message advised me that they were doing maintenance in Grand Forks but no mention of Prince George. Was there a problem with Prince George?
I'm not aware of any recent major maintenance in Prince George. But it's possible that there was an outage or some unplanned maintenance needed in your area. That would certainly explain the PVR rebooting. But if you're still having issues, let us know.
Hi and thanks for getting back to me. I was watching tv at the time so there was no power failure. I will advise if I continue to have the tiling problem.
