I have a Motorola SB5102 wired modem for my Shaw connection and want to add a D-Link DIR 330 Wireless Router for my home network. I am not having any luck in connecting through my Windows 7. Any suggestions?
Hey Nedwards. When first connecting a router to your modem, the best method is to connect them together, then pull the power out of both devices. Plug in just the Shaw modem and wait for the Online light to turn solid green. Then plug in the router. See if you are able to get a connection with this method.
If not, are you able to connect when direct to modem?
Any luck with shaw-don's suggestion? Let us know if you're still having any trouble and we'll help you out.
Thank you Don for the original suggestion. I did have direct access when connected to the Motorola modem. However, I found out the D-Link router was not working and today I went to Shaw and picked up a Cisco WIFI Modem and all is back on track. I do appreciate the suggestions. Being only somewhat knowledgeable regarding networking and computers, it took me a bit of time to figure out I was dealing with some equipment that had seen better days.
Nice, thanks for the update, good to hear you're back up and running properly.
