Mine is very noisy and goes non-stop. Is there a place I can take it to get it check? Some of my recordings are incomplete and sometime it freezes on my.
Sounds normal to me, the non-stop and noisy part at least. The other stuff sounds like a problem though. mark_vse should be able run test from his end. (He'll be aware of this thread now that I "spoke" his name.)
I tried unplugging it for a while and now I'm missing channels 200 to 213..... Not impressed so far....
I completely understand. I have none of the incomplete/freezing issues, so lets just hope mark_vse can figure it out quickly and get you sorted one way or the other. (May require a replacement.)
Just my opinion, but when it works as intended, the Gateway is the best system Shaw has, again, just my opinion though.
No worries. Thanks for your help.
i can look into this issue for you.

Missing as in not there/showing? Or Missing as in they don't work?
In regards to this, sometimes when the system is cycled it fails to reboot and I have seen channels become missing from live tv, the guide, menu and channel list. Usually an agent can refresh to unit remotely to correct that quickly.
As far as the noise goes, as the system is designed to be on all the time, the hard drive and fans are running 24/7. The more portals/tuners engaged, vod running or recordings the heavier use on the Gateway and possibly louder it could be.
So potentially the equipment may need better ventilation. If there is any equipment stacked on-top of it, maybe reconfigured as ventilation comes out the top, pulled from the back.
But a common thing depending on the household is to relocate it by having a Gateway Technician come out. As we must ensure it stays within the MoCA network, and signal is good throughout.
Get a service call if you need it checked, but the best thing to do is have it moved somewhere where the noise won't bother you
