Hi, what is going on with the Internet in North Edmonton? (MacLeod area). For the past few days it's been randomly dropping out at approx. 18 minute intervals. I am trying to work and it is getting annoying.
When it drops, do the lights change on your modem?
Hi there Aberry
We do not have any alerts for that area specifically.
Can you tell us if the problem is wired only or wireless or both? Also, what hardware do you have - modem and router or a modem/router combo from us?
If you have a modem AND router, do you notice if the lights checge on it when the connection drops?
Let us know any further details and we'll advise here.
Thanks, it is a wired connection.
Motorola SB5101 Surfboard cable modem.
While I was in an on-line meeting this morning the internet would drop and I would lose all but the top light. Shortly the lights would come back, starting from 2nd light down until I was connected again (steady green lights). Approximately every 18 minutes. (ok, it was a boring meeting, I was watching my modem lights...)
I disconnected and reconnected all connections this morning.
I have sent you a direct message to check your modem levels and most likely book a service technician to visit your home. Please check your Community Inbox and reply back to us there.
Hi Heather, I haven't seen a message yet. But this is my first time on Shaw Support so maybe I'm confused.
Sorry about that, my fault. Should see a message now
I'm in North Edmonton as well (Skyview) and this is now the second day in a row I've completely lost my Internet connection. A modem reset fixed the issue last night and I suspect it will fix the issue again today. The problem is, I work remotely, require access to home resources, and have no way of resetting the modem throughout the day.
For me, I have an older Motorola wired-only modem from back in the Extreme-I days. All lights are solid except "Online" blinks at a constant rate/pattern.
For the amount we pay, I don't expect interruptions in service like this.
If you notice the online light specifically flashing or going off, that would indicate a signal problem going into the modem.
Try doing something simple when you are at home - remove power and re-seat the coaxial cable on both ends. Then plug in the power and test after you see 4 solid green lights.
If you are still seeing the lights on the modem change, let us know here please.
