orion tv can not input tv signal with yellow and white cables and when hooked up to cable in back says need digital box and we get channel 4 and 3 with pic that says get digital box. can not get aux on tv either
Are you hooking up to a shaw cable box? May have gone through a network upgrade where a cable box is required but if it's wired properly wired should fix it? any more details on how its wired would help figure out the issue.
it is hooked up to portal, 13in tv, no signal, via yellow and white cables in front of tv.
when hooked up in back of tv with white cable from dpvr thingie we have signal on channel 3 saying we need digital box, and we get shaw tv on channel 4 and rest of channels blank
we had shaw guy here and he couldn't get tv working either.
there is no aux in option on tv either. there is tv and catv inputs on menu
thanks for the reply
Any of the channels won't work, to use the Red/White/Yellow connections on the front or back there should be a Source or Input function somewhere in the TV
Try looking on the TV's remote (not the Portal's) for Source/Input/Aux, if not, try channel down from channel 3, see if it will go down from channel 2 to the inputs
going to look for model number
have searched for ways to find other inputs on remote but there are none. the cables are new. as said before cable to back is for antenna but gives me channel 3 and 4 and only 4 works with pic and sound. channel 3 says I need digital box.
the remote does Not allow or show options other than channel selection and tv or cable input. no aux or video inputs
there is yellow and white input jacks on front of tv
have tried everything can think of but nothing working. will not go below channel 2 or jumps to 125, does auto programing but nothing there to change input other than tv and cable
tv is 2001 model
Are you looking for Aux on the Orion remote? Quick searches tell me you have to use remote to chance to the Aux inputs.
I found the Orion remote...
Bottom left corner, TV/AV button
If you don't have the Orion remote, there is a trick with them, that sometimes works to get to Aux
I have the remote and it has No aux button on it
it has a reset and other buttons but no aux on it
lol that would be too easy
This is the remote I found as the orginal
Other things I found that may get to the Aux ports,
Press and hold Channel Up on the front of the TV, will take you there after a bit?
Press Channel Up two or three times very quickly
Channel up from channel 99, past 115, then goes to the Aux ports
that is not my remote sorry tried to upload pic but won't work
on catv goes to 125
on tv goes to 13
does not once again go to aux in any mode
bottom left corner has reset button and does nuthing
Which Shaw remotes do you have around the house?
Do you have any of the older Atlas remotes? - they have a Video Input button that may work with the right TV code
have shaw pvr thingie and using latest portal.
had fire at house 2012 now living in motorhome while rebuilding house.
everthing lost or stolen
Alright, well I am out of ideas then, try posting another picture of your remote again, might be labelled as something weird?
When you are making a post, in almost the middle bar above where you type here is a picture of a camera, use that to upload a picture saved to your computer.
Make sure the cables are plugged into the Video IN and Audio IN section on the TV not the A/V OUT.
Cycle through the inputs it should say Video 1/2/3, Component 1/2/3 or something similar. There should be a button on the TV's remote saying Source,Input,TV/Video. There could be a button on the sides of the TV as well - try all inputs when the portal is on.
Try swapping the R/W/Y cables - maybe they are faulty.
Hey cazrcon any luck with the suggestions from kevinds and heshan? Let us know if you're still having any trouble, we can help you out.
Can you post the model number of your Orion TV?
try pressing volume up and volume down both together to get to the menu. you should be able to choose the tv source as "AUX" or "VIDEO" as well as programming in channels. Seeing as how you're using the Shaw PVR thingie, see if you can find the remote for that. Included, and on the Shaw website, should be the manual for that remote, which includes stuff on how to set up your remote including controlling your Orion tv. Usually, it's press setup, then press the button for whatever you want to control, then a 4 number code, then press power and aim it at whatever you're trying to control, tv, vcr, dvd player, whatever. If it turns off, then you know it worked. i think the code for Orion (which is actually sansui in disguise or Durabrand) is 0091 but not 100% sure on that. Anyways, go to Shaw support, get a copy of the manual, and look it up in there. You may have to autoprogram the tv's channel selection. See if you can get the tv to go to channel 3 or 4, then connect the coax cable to the input of the pvr, then run a coax able out to the input of the tv. then see if you can get to the tv's menu, then you should be able to auto program and choose the source from there. Failing that, see if you can get a cheap universal remote (dollarama?) and use that. Also, set it to CATV before autoprogramming. I think TV is just for the antenna. anyways, hope this helps you. usually I use the shaw remote to change channels on the Orion tv after I've programmed it it in, but you may have to see if you can get the Orion TV set up first
good luck to you
johnb1 Using a Portal, the remote doesn't have the Input button, nor channel 3/4 out coax output.
Could try the TV's menu with the volume buttons, my internet searching told me changing inputs isn't in there though, definitely worth checking out though
thank you for all replies and help. we had a shaw guy come with a universal remote and he used it to access the aux input, and left the remote with us. when the power goes out in our rv for whatever reason we have to use the universal remote to reset the tv to aux mode. this is the only way we currently know of to reset the tv to aux. the tv remote still is used to turn it on and for volume, but it is the universal one to set it to aux and the pvr one to change channels. we didn't have the universal to try at the time of the original posting but the shaw guy had one and left it with us. the problem has been solved and just thought would update everyone as to the answer to the problem and hope it helps someone else with this solution. the button on the universal remote is in the bottom left hand corner for tv input.
once again thank you everyone for trying to help!!
Yeah, I figured that... That is why I asked if you had any of the other Shaw remotes Glad you have a solution
