I have webmail set up on my iPad with a Shaw Mail icon to access it. My mail is now appearing there as well as in the Mail icon on the home screen. Deleting messages in one place does not delete it in the other. How can I fix this?
Good morning Ckingis, it almost sounds like you may have set the email up twice on your phone. I'd double check by going into settings (the grey cogs icon) and under there, mail, calendar, and contacts. You should see all the emails setup there. If you have two versions of your shaw email there, I'd recommend removing one. Let me know if this helped.
IIt shows ICloud, GMail, Exchange, Shaw.
Alright, so we want to delete the shaw email now. Once that's been done, see if one of the mailboxes is removed. If that is the case, your problem is solved, if not (for example, but mailboxes have gone) proceed with this way of adding the email, this will sync it with the shaw server and email deletion should clear everything. https://community.shaw.ca/docs/DOC-1065#solution0
If I do that will I still have my shaw webmail with all it's folders, etc?
Good evening, ckingis
Our Exchange Server, which has setup instructions under 'Configuration 1' at How to set up email - iPhone/iPad (iOS 6) will synchronize your Webmail content (emails, contacts, folders, etc.) within the Mail App on your iPad. Are you currently using a separate shortcut to access our Webmail site directly, in addition to the Mail App? If so, we certainly recommend just using our Exchange Server through the Mail App via that link above. As upneet mentioned above, you can remove the 'Shaw' mailbox if you already have our 'Exchange' server setup in the Mail App.
I've done that but I don't see my folders.
When you enter the Mail App, there should be a list of Accounts, and you will want to select the one named 'Exchange' which will display your custom folders. If you do not see this when entering the Mail App, you may currently be in a folder or specific e-mail account, so you would need to press the back arrow to go back to the main screen of the Mail App. The main screen will display a list of Inboxes, and a list of Accounts, so you'll want to ensure that you select 'Exchange' from the Accounts list. If there is no Exchange option under Accounts in the Mail App, please let us know which options you see.
Exchange is there as well as the folder names but the folders are empty. Also it keeps asking me for a password for exchange.
before all the IOS updates I just used Shaw webmail with a separate home screen icon and everything worked fine. Is there some way to just get back to that?
Hey ckingis, did you have an icon on your iPad that took you to the Webmail website or to your mail program?
Yes, I had an icon that took me directly to Shaw wemail.
On your iPad, open Safari and go to webmail.shaw.ca. Then, click "share" just to the left of the address bar. One of the options will be "add to home screen". Click that, rename the page (if you'd like), and click "add".
On your iPad screen, you should now have an icon that when clicked will take you directly to Shaw Webmail.
I already had an icon on my home screen so I deleted it and redid it. I also took Shaw out of my list of mailboxes within the iPad mail. For the most part that solved the problem. Every now and then messages are there twice but not always.
