we just started with Shaw internet and cable. We also have free to air but your internet will not let me access our free to air.
Thanks for the detail there anitak. The best course of action here is to start by getting in touch with the provider of your Free to Air service. Just explain to them that the product is not working with your new Internet Service Provider, and they should be able to offer some advice. If it turns out that there's something specific to be changed with your Shaw connection, and they can't take further action on that, then we may be able to help. But we'd first have to know exactly what needs to be changed.
Good morning anitak
Welcome to the Shaw Community. Free to Air isn't a product we directly support here, but I can try to offer some advice. Can you describe the problem you're encountering when attempting to use the service?
my free to air shows that it is sending but it is not sending to the free to air receiver. when it tries to connect it goes red which mean it hasn't connected
If it is a service that relies on your Internet connection, then as long as you have Internet connectivity it should be able to work. There isn't anything our Internet service does to limit the use of that service. Have you tried contacting the provider of your Free to Air equipment for support? That would likely be the best way to go here. If there is anything specific that needs to be changed with your Internet connection settings, they would have those details.
i still have our bell internet till friday and my free to air will work on that one
It's possible that your Shaw connection needs to be setup differently in order to get Free to Air to work. it's just that from here we don't know what is involved because Free to Air isn't our product.
If we can get some specifics about what the problem is and what settings may have to changed, we can definitely work with that, but otherwise we're just shooting in the dark.
i have a program on my computer that runs my free to air. when i open this program and try to get the free to air to work both connections and channels go green and my receiver will have a red light which mean they are working but then then on the program on the computer it will stay green for about 3 minutes but no red light on receiver then the light would go red on the program on computer which means that it did not send to the receiver. So i hooked my Bell up last night went through all the same testings as i did with Shaw and all the lights came on right away with the bell internet and watching free to air.
okay thank you will get ahold of them and will get what is needed to get my free to Air up and running
Free to Air, this has confused me a little since you started.
This usually refers to an antenna connected to your TV, and your TV receiving a station,
Satellite dish connected to a free-to-air receiver, connected to your TV, but neither would need internet access to function.
