is there a complete wiring diagram for the shaw gateway system with 2 portals
Does the wiring diagram at the bottom of this document cover what you are needing?
Portal to TV? Bottom of this documentHardware Information - Portal / Gateway
Coax cables wiring, this is mine:
A) Shaw cable from outside
C) Gateway system
E) another 2-way splitter for DCX3400 and Arris DPT
F) MoCA filter
G) Gateway system splitter
H) Portal 1
J) Future Portal (currently not connected at wall outlet)
K) Portal 2
Wish my cabling looked like that... *scribbles another thing on the to-do list*
I wish my labels would have stuck... But you should have seen it after the Shaw tech left
The radius' of the jumper between the two splitters is a bit tight, but that's just me being overly critical.
That is exactly how we want to see a Gateway setup. In respect to the OP's question, the Four way with the filter on it will only need to be a three way in a situation with only 2 Portals.
There were 4 splitters there before...
jackal I agree, that coax cable needs to be 1-2 inches shorter, that will get done when I get some more compression ends
When I was in the field I would have moved the output to the port on the right, and set the distance of the splitters based on the connecting length of coax while allowing for bend radius of the other upward output. It would allow for a tighter setup overall.
The post on the right is closer than the one one the left, I may try rotating the splitter on the bottom though.
great info thanks, the only thing I forgot to include was the phone modem, that will be a very busy part of my basement, thanks again for the pic
I got just a bunch of wires and no labels when I had my gateway installed. All I know is the one that comes in from the road
Is there something you are looking to do?
I Want to move my portal frI'm one room to another room with cable and not sure which line to switch.
Connect a normal TV to the outlet, unplug the cables one at a time, until the TV goes out
Depending on your situation, moving a portal may require access to a locked CSE box, and/or an additional MoCa filter. The purpose of the MoCa filter is to prevent the MoCa frequencies from reaching other equipment outside your home MoCa network and causing disruptive interference.
