can I hook a Netgear universal Wi-Fi internet adapter to my existing Wi-Fi modem, trying to setup Netflix on my blue ray player.
What model of blu ray player do you have?
I imagine you are using the Wi-Fi internet adapter by connecting it to the Blu Ray player which has a setup menu that will connect it to your existing Shaw WiFi modem?
Bd550 lg blue ray player
According to page 20 of the product user manual for this model of blu ray player it only supports a wired ethernet connection. http://www.lg.com/us/support-product/lg-BD550# - it appears the USB port is more intended for use with storage devices to playback pictures, etc. on your TV.
If you can't run an ethernet cable to the blu ray player, you may be able to extend the network connection by using powerline adapters. They are not supported by Shaw but available at your local 3rd party retailers.
Let us know if you have any further questions on this dhogue.
I hope we have pointed you in the right direction to get your blu ray player connected to the internet.
