is there a new incoming setting for android? my tablet has been configured for 18 months and stopped receiving incoming on Dec 26. Im using pop.shaw.ca and 110. Im having no trouble on bberry, laptop, and webmail receiving message. Thx
Are you getting any error messages?
error is shaw connection error. this displays either when manually refreshing messages or at timed interval refreshes. all other apps are refreshing fine so this is specific to shaw email. thx
Pop.shaw.ca and port 110 is correct, and that should work as long as you're connected within the Shaw network. Can you please double check that your tablet is connected to your own WiFi network?
Otherwise it could be an authentication issue. Make sure your user name is just the first part of your email address (excluding the @shaw.ca) and that your password matches what you use to login to Webmail.
Let me know if that that helps at all. If not maybe try to get a bit more detail out of the error message you're receiving and we can go from there.
pop.shaw.ca *should* work everywhere, on and off Shaw's network
I've also never had problems before either on or off shaw network. That said, yes I'm on my shaw network. I've verified user name, password, etc. There is no additional detail displayed on the error message. Just 'Connection Error (Shaw)'. Thx
Right, my bad. Those settings should be fine on and off network. So your settings sound good then.
Tough call here given that the error message is pretty generic. Have you tried turning the tablet off and on?
You could remove the email account entirely and set it back up from scratch again, might risk losing some email in that case though.
Power on/off didn't work either. I was trying to avoid deleting the account...but there seemed to be no other way. I recreated the account with the same settings and it's now working. Too bad as I've lost all my history and contacts. Thanks for your help though.
Gotcha. Well I'm glad it's working, sorry it had to come to deleting everything, it's never good to lose data.
To prevent any similar issues from happening in the future, you could always set the account up using Exchange/ActiveSync (details here). That way all your messages and contacts are synced with the server. Totally optional of course, but might be a good solution.
