Poor wireless speeds with Cisco DPC3825

I subscribe to the Broadband 50 service and my wired connection consistently meets or exceeds the stated service levels; so I'm happy here. However any wireless device I use seems to cap out at 20 Mbps even when its only a foot away from my Cisco DPC3825. Obviously moving any farther away reduces my signal strength and speeds significantly more. I've tested this using a number of devices so I'm fairly confident it's not a computer hardware or software issue.

I'm assuming the poor wireless speeds are a function of interference and poor quality hardware. Is there a fix for this besides having to buy another third party dual band router of better quality?

Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance.
