I have the elevation, Azmuths and skew for the Shaw satellites for my location in California but cannot pick up the Shaw signal. Any suggestion?
Are you using the same type of dish as home?
Some different models of dishes require different settings entered into your terminal (and sometimes your account).
I have no idea what changes though.
I am using identical equipment that I have at home and had it working at home before I left.
Hey there bertcamp
Thanks for your post here. I'd like to get the attention of our Shaw Direct moderator donovon. We primarily deal with Shaw Cable services on these forums, but he should be able to offer some assistance.
The problem is partially solved. I checked with another transient customer in the area and found out I had used a bad website and therefore had the wrong headings, etc. I now have it working but am not receiving all channels, eg. some HD channels including the CBC are not coming in. Thanks for your response and support.
You won't get all the HD channels because the new G1 satellite doesn't have signal south of the boarder
Thanks, Mavin. I was aware of that. I was referring to the two old satellites service but the longer it is connected the more channels that are coming in. I believe I have good reception now and really appreciate all the help that has been volunteered.
No problem, I don't have a lot of experiences with Shaw Direct, a few years ago I did a lot of messing around with the other satellite provider though
I'm glad to hear you were able to get everything sorted out. For future reference, Shaw Direct isn't able to provide support outside of our defined service area as a Canadian service provider, even though some of our existing satellite footprints do extend past the Canadian border. If you have inquiries, the community is a great resource for assistance but please be aware that our abilities will be limited if you identify yourself to be using Shaw Direct outside of our service area.
I hope you are able to find the support you are looking for.
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to let me know!
Thanks for your assistance. It is very disappointing that Shaw chose to bow to the American cable companies and remove their distinctive competitive market advantage by making this policy change and removing support to long time loyal customers. This will support the move from satellite services to alternative sources for TV programming.
I completely get your stance on the situation. I can only imagine how hard it is having to make company-based decisions that affect such a broad spectrum of our wonderful customers. Like I said, I'll try my best to answer any other questions you may have.
Have a great day!
