We just purchased a expander set up by Shaw the expander just says 0% in it I know that can't be true, how do I fix it?
I may be wrong or misunderstanding, but I believe it is telling you that the hard drive is 0% full. As you record things it will go up to 5%, 10% etc... so you know how much space is being used.
Hi dave1945. Have you recorded anything yet? As 7825 mentioned, it should read as higher once you have some recordings on it. If not, please reply with the model of PVR that you have the expander attached to so that we can look into this further for you.
Yes I have lots recorded 12hours or more omega expander
Can I ask which model of PVR you have the expander attached to? The reason I ask is that some of our older PVR's didn't originally come with support for expanders, and as such have a hard time reading the remaining capacity. This can correct itself on it's own as the expander starts to fill up.
This is an OMEGA EXPANDER
Hi dave1945. Thank you for replying so quickly. What I was asking was what model of PVR the expander is attached to. I can see that you posted this in the Gateway forum, is it indeed a Gateway? I ask because this is a known issue with our older Motorola PVRs such as the DCT3416 and DCT6416 as they were not originally meant to be compatible with expanders.
Have you gone to the external storage settings in your Gateway and formatted the new Expander? I had to do that when I added one, and it worked perfectly afterward. That is assuming of course that you do indeed have a Gateway. If you don't please do as others have asked and list your PVR model.
No it is not a gateway the PVR is a DCX3400M
Thanks dave1945. This is a known issue with Motorola PVRs when attaching an expander. As you get more recordings on it, you may start to see the levels appear. I'd like to extend our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause you, we are working on a solution as quickly as possible.
I have between 15 - 16 hrs on it now and it still says 0
It may not ever read a percentage until we can have this issue fixed. As you are already doing so, you can continue to count the hours of programming you have recorded from time to time, which would help you tell how full the expander is. Our 1 terabyte expander will hold approximately 600 hours of standard definition programming, or 120 hours of high definition. It's not a perfect solution by any means, but may help you until we correct the issue.
Do you have any progress to report on the DCX3400 firmware, getting the lockups with an expander fixed would be really nice...
Last firmware update was what 2.5 years ago? "working as quickly as possible" - Don't believe it
kevinds - we don't have a release date at this time, our updates show that it is being worked on though.
Hope your not serious about counting the hrs. I just got this thing 0n Dec 23 2013 We got 2 the one on other TV works fine
dave1945 - It could be the case that this will not read a percentage until we have an update fixing this issue. If you like, we could have a shaw-moderator send you a direct message so that we can get your account info and reset the PVR. This has been known to sometimes help the expander sync with the PVR software.
Yes sure what info do you need?
We will have a shaw-moderator send you a direct message shortly.
dave1945 I will message you directly for more information. Please check your Community Inbox.
