Can I hook up my dvd player to my arris gateway ?
Unfortunately, there's not a whole lot you can do in that case. You could look around for some kind of intricate HDMI converter that would allow you to connect to a component splitter or you could try and find an s-video dongle (I believe that is what those top ones are) that would support the digital coax.
That TV looks mighty old and I'd have to say at some point somethings got to give if you want to keep all your devices - both new and old - connected.
The HDMI connection on the Arris Gateway is not enabled as all video is run through the Portal units.
As your TV only has 1 HDMI connection, you can pick-up on an HDMI splitter which will allow you to connect more than one device through the HDMI input on your TV. You can usually pick these units up at any audio/video store. I've had to use one like this myself on an older TV.
I hope this helps answer your question.
I said I had no HDMI hookups on my TV. Any other ideas?
I'm sorry, I misread your original post and thought you wrote that your TV only had one HDMI input.
As I stated above, the HDMI plug-in on the Gateway is not enabled and will not accept any devices plugged in through it. The HDMI connection on the Portal is only to output the signal to an HDTV.
However, if your DVD player has the digital connections (red/white/yellow), you can connect it to your TV, provided it has the same kind of connections. If you are already using these connections with the Portal, you can check into possibly using a video switch.
To provide you with other options, I would need to see what the back of your TV looks like. If you could reply back with either the model number of your TV and DVD or with an attached picture of the back of the TV and DVD, I can then take a look to see what might be the best way to connect the devices.
Those were pictures of tv. DVD only has Digital Coax and HDMI, nothing else.
Can I hook it up to the hdmi on the arris portal?
Are those Red/Blue/Green connections? I think one of the wires is green, that is why I ask
