when i view my emails they are all duplicated! on Shaw webmail & G mail, how can I stop this from happening? I dont know if I did something when I set up a G Mail account! I have windows 7 thanks Bob
I have done that and it has solved the problem for which I am very grateful thank you all Bob if I get updates from Firefox ie Video player is it ok to instal?
What program are you using to view your emails from both accounts? Is it an external email program like Outlook? More than likely this is due to a forwarding rule set up on one of the accounts. It could also be a duplicate account. If you accidentally set up the accounts twice on the program you are using. We suggest going into the settings of your email program and checking to make sure there are not two there. And also you may need to check in Gmail itself to see if you have forwarding set up to go to your @shaw email address. Hope this helps.
thank you I am useing Outlook on PC and XP Pro can you walk me through what to do get to setting etc I tried yesterday and went options and my email address came up as default and my wifes just as address. I have gmail set up on my laptop and have "keep a copy on server" ticked off, I know how to change them if you can tell me what it should be but have problem with XP, I am an old guy and hope this makes sense to you! thanks for your help Bob
Good morning bobmar38
Thanks for the extra details here. I'd just like to ask a couple things be clear - where exactly are you seeing the duplicate emails, In Shaw Webmail (http://webmail.shaw.ca) or only in Outlook?
I get duplicates on Shaw Webmail and Outlook but not on G mail hope this helps thanks
That is very helpful, thanks.
Sounds like email forwarding may have been enabled on your Shaw account at some point, so I'll suggest that we check and disable that please. To do that:
These steps will ensure that email forwarding is not setup on your @shaw.ca email account. You can of course use forwarding if you wish, but I believe it is the reason for the duplicates in this case.
there is nothing set up in that box, no forward address or anything, the only thing that is ticked is place in box! im Mail the only thing that is ticked is Allow all mail, including old mail, to be downloaded, I dont know if that means anything! I notice that I am useing Zimbra! is that what should be there? thanks Bob
Sounds like you have some type of forwarding enabled from Gmail to Shaw.
I would suggest checking the Gmail settings to ensure no email forwarding is setup.
If the problem persists we can message you directly to investigate further.
I checked my gmail settings and did have forwarding to Shaw set up, I have disabled that! should that fix the problem? and will my email still work ok? is there anything else I should check? thanks so much for your help Bob
If the duplicated emails were originally sent to both your Gmail account as well as your Shaw account, then yes that would have been the issue. Everything which was sent to your Gmail account would have been forwarded to your Shaw email address, which would be in addition to any of the same emails you also received at your Shaw email address.
Let us know if you're still seeing any duplicate messages though Bob.
No worries, glad that worked!
About Firefox updates though, can you let me know what specifically the update is for? Is it Flash? That would be legitimate. It could be for another add-on as well.
