I'm working why when my cable goes down been 3 times this month not too impressed when it goes down alot of the time I can also not watch stuff off my gateway pvr why is this
Sorry to hear you're having issues with cable service, dayblake. Are you having issues right now? If so, what error message are you getting or what is the problem you are experiencing?
Cable is currently working but has been on and off all night sometimes no msg on screen sometimes saying can't connect with gateway sometimes telling me to call shaw tonight it's has come on for a few min and them back down if Im watching stuff on pvr half way threw is turns off and show no connection with gateway
Down again no msg just a frozen screen oh now can not communicate with gateway buying the gate way was the biggest mistake of my life it's junk
That definitely sounds like signal problems. Do you have multiple Portals? Is it happening on Portals other than this one?
Coaxial troubleshooting for the Portal is definitely something you can try. Unplug the power to the Portal and unscrew the coaxial at both ends, then reconnect and power up. If it does continue, we'll probably want to get a techncian out to take a look at the Gateway's wiring or the outlets themselves. Normally we'd recommend bypassing splitters, but depending on how the MOCA filters for the Gateway are set up and how comfortable you are with that, it's not something we suggest on the Gateway.
I have 2 TVs in the house both are doing the same thing the one that is hooked up to a surround sound keeps loosing it's dolby digital and causing the sound to cut out
Okay, well I'll send you a direct message then and take a look at things from this end. I'd suspect some signal issues to the Gateway are causing your headaches and should hopefully be able to be resolved with a service call.
Do the lights change on your Gateway unit when you get the errors?
