Hello, folks. Has anyone else had their Shaw Secure (McAafee) subscription expire? Do you have to uninstall/reinstall it, or can the subscription be renewed?
Thanks for the help.
Thanks; I had hoped to not have to go through the whole uninstall and reinstall process, but I did, in order to fix it. MLater on I saw a post by ss_phil:
"Be sure to also check your computer's date and time settings. This can cause issues with McAfee Update and Subscription checks. Otherwise follow the instructions from Ali. They are where I would recommend to start."
I had had a problem uninstalling because the computer's date was14 Feb vice 14 Jan, re-set it, and continued uninstalling, so I would recommend to anyone who has McAfee pop up with a "Your subscription has expired." message to check the date setting before going through the hassle of uninstalling (which is a two-step process, in Windows anyway) & reinstalling Shaw Secure.
It should be persistent to the best of my knowledge, so I'd probably recommend re-installing it to see if that fixes the problem for you.
Thanks for pointing that out. It's sometimes the little details that get missed.
Yes as soon as I corrected the time ( 11:00 am to 12:05 am) the situation resolved itself. Thanks for that posting!
Shortly after installing Win 10, I got a message to renew McAfee/Shaw Secure. I thought that was just because of updating the operating system. We had to do the same on each computer. This morning I got another message telling me the McAfee subscription expires in 5 days. This is approx. two months since installing Win 10. Any suggestions as to why this is happening???
Definitely a strange issue that you are seeing, and sorry to hear that it's happening on multiple comps. Can we get you to try removing Shaw Secure completely on one computer as a test, by using our tools found on this page About McAfee Internet Security Tools , then re-install Shaw Secure by logging into My Account (http://myaccount.shaw.ca), and see if that fixes it for you? Please let us know how it goes!
Sorry if you get this twice. Haven't used this before, so newbie growing pains.
I will try your suggestion on my laptop. However I don't know if the problem will come again in the near future. This one was a couple of months after re-installing McAfee. I'll do what you're suggesting and if it comes back with a renewal message at some point, I'll be back to let you know.
Thanks for getting back to me, Romona
Hi again. Back at the beginning of Dec. 2015, I reported that McAfee gave me a message that my security software is about to expire. I followed the steps suggested by Ken from support to remove McAfee and reinstall. Now the same issue is back, I'm getting the same message that my subscription is about to expire. Any suggestions or fixes that might have come up since Dec.1 when I first reported this???
Thanks so much
Very odd to hear this issue reappear. Do you have more than one computer that has McAfee installed, and if so, are all experiencing the same or similar issues? Can you please let us know the version and build number for Personal Firewall, WebAdvisor, SecurityCenter, and Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware? This information is found under About from within the app.
Hi Ken, Here you go. Personal Firewall - Ver 15, WebAdvisor - Ver 4, Security Center - Ver 14, Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware - Ver 18.
This doesn't come up on our laptops and PC's at the same time, but eventually it does. There is usually a time lapse of a week or two.
Hi there romona,
Very sorry for the delay in response. We'll have to take a closer look at this for you, so we'll be sending you a direct message to your Community Inbox to grab your account information to do so.
