A topic that was started on 8 Mar 2013 by cdittmer and continued on until [Shaw]ali commented on 16 Jan 2014, is now LOCKED.
There appear to have been 14,600 views, so there is interest out there.
Some good feedback dxer and hjnicol, thanks. As I mentioned, we're not discouraging discussion. That's not why that thread was locked.
So what we've done for you is created a brand new Channel Discussion thread, dedicated to discussing any channels that you think we should offer. There are some ground rules which are covered in the first post, just so we can ensure everything's on topic.
Please feel free to use this thread for future discussion. I've locked this thread since we now have a new one.
@ hjnicol - It's a good thing you're not interested in the Rhodesian Aardvark Racing Channel. I just don't see there being much interest in this, but who knows.
Good morning hjnicol
I'm fairly certain you aren't the only person who would like some calcification on this so thank you for bringing your question to us. We appreciate the feedback that the HD channel thread was bringing but to ensure all requests are documented and seen by the right people we should be using the Channel Request(s) Form.
The process of adding a new channel to our lineup isn't necessarily a straightforward one, but when we see a number of requests, we're certainly taking notice and we will do what we can to heed our customers requests for new content.
Let us know if we can assist with anything else!
I see no need to stifle the discussion though.
People can not discuss the issue on the "Channel request form"....that's what the forums, and topics like that are for.......soooooo......why the lock again?
Good question gamerguy.
The thread itself wasn't giving us the direct feedback that we need to get your requests to the right people and was getting pretty large and difficult to navigate if you were looking to see if a specific channel was mentioned. It wasn't offering a whole lot of value to anyone who is interested in what channels we may or may not be able to bring in and frequently became entirely off-topic.
Please don't misunderstand, we love the discussions that go on here and encourage them. We just want to ensure that we're keeping our Community clean, organized, relevant and accessible.
benoityvr, you can submit a request once per channel, since multiple requests wouldn't fairly represent demand.
I hope this clears it up.
To the Shaw folks, I beg to differ. The When is Shaw Going to Catch Up? topic is a legitimate and indeed welcome space to make public (not private) requests, read about the available HD channels that Shaw is not carrying, and to vent frustration at the slowness or unresponsiveness by Shaw to genuine channel requests. Many channels have been requested, and outside the CTV bunch of channels and Shaw's own channels, it looks like most other requests are rendered mute. The Channel Request(s) Form is like a dead mail box - people, including me, make our requests, but we never hear anything more again. We have no idea what channels others are requesting, nor how popular such requests might be. Perhaps a different kind of topic or forum is needed - something more immediately available. It would also give Shaw a chance to float proposed and potential channels in order to seek a response from among us, your most engaged users. If nothing else, please don't shut down this generally courteous discussion. Otherwise, you will be sending out a quite unfriendly message to your customers.
Thanks for your reply Matt.
I asked this question because I had, what I thought, was a valid point/question about the "Channel Request Form" and you had already lock this topic.
It looked suspiciously like you wanted to restrict the complaints/information flow on this topic.
For myself and others living in the interior of British Columbia, it seems reasonable that we would like to watch Pacific Standard Time broadcasts of, lets say CTV in high definition, since the station originates only 250 miles away. At present we don't have a PST CTV HD channel. It would seem ludicrous that Shaw would be waiting for requests from the interior of BC for HD access of a BC related major network.
So,,, should I be requesting CTV Vancouver and Global Vancouver HD access for Kelowna / Penticton ????
I'm not seeking access to High Definition for the Rhodesian Aardvark Racing Channel.
Most of us up here in the sticks even have indoor plumbing.
How many times can we submit requests?
