My wireless modem, the CISCO model, keeps resetting itselt during data transfers, and its honestly driving me nuts because it only happens when I am watching netflix or playing an online game. Any suggestions?
It happens atleast 6-10 times every 2-3 hours. I talked to the installation guy when I moved into my new apartment and he said it should stop since I am now in a different neighborhood.
The next time it drops connection, take a look at the modem's lights? Does it still have 4 solid lights? That'll help us pin down whether the issue is with the connection to the modem or perhaps with the wifi connection.

So when it drops connection, the POWER light and the LAN light are the only ones that stay on.
I was browsing through other help topics and found a guide to changing the radio frequency the router itself broadcasts over, I switched it to broadcast over channel 2 and the reset problem seemed to stop for a few days, but has recently started happening again, not as often as before mind you, but still happens. I have gone through the entire radio frequency list that is available with my router (1-12) and each one drops me a few times every couple hours (again not nearly as bad as when it was set on default, but still an annoyance at the very least)
Thank you for getting back to us. If the lights on the modem are all dropping off as you have described it would point to a signal and/or connection issue. It is doubtful that changing the radio frequency would help with this issue. I would recommend replacing the coaxial cable from the modem to the wall and if you have a splitter connected I would recommend replacing that as well. Well when my service was transferred from my old apartment, the tehnician put in a brand new cable, but i will try doing that anyways. where are the retail locations located in edmonton alberta?
