where can I buy a pvr expander in Vancouver?
Good afternoon b.chong
At this time we are not stocking expanders. I did a quick search of future shop and best buy and didn't find any there. There may be some 3rd party retailers with a couple left over but they will not renewing their stock either. You could try checking personal sellers such as craigslist or kijiji though.
Hope that helps.
Shaw does not offer them currently.
The only 3 options are to buy a used Shaw expander online/somewhere, 3rd party retailer or build your own. Building your own is simpler than it sounds. You just need an external HDD enclosure and an HDD. Preferably one that is designed to run 24/7 like in PVR type environments.
I use a Vantec Nexstar CX* enclosure (Note it's the eSATA variant, it's what you want.) with a Western Digital WD AV-GP* drive. (Comes in smaller sizes, like 1 and 2TB's. The AV-GP means it's a PVR capable drive.)
That is the quick and easy way. There are other options for mutli-drive solutions in RAID but the above is easiest and what most people would find quite sufficient.

Right, forgot 3rd party retails, but they seem to be out as already mentioned. Fixed above.
Thanks for all the replies
Can you use 3TB HDD with a Pace DC758D?
Officially, it's 1TB, but I found this post here where [shaw]matt says it should see a 2TB drive. (In some cases it has, others, it hasn't.)
Working off my crap memory, I believe I had a 1.5TB Seagate used in my old DC758D without issue for a short time before I switched to the Gateway.
I'd aim for a 2TB drive, nothing more.
