My PVR has long delays responding to commands such as Channel Up, or typing in numerical channel number, or pressing Guide. If I press the Channel up button, it takes over 30 seconds for the new channel to appear. What's up?
That's definitely pretty slow wildog. Is it still this slow when pressing the buttons right on the PVR (if available on your model)? If not, or if you can't check, I'd recommend changing the batteries in your remote to be sure.
If that doesn't work, you can try power cycling your PVR. If you have a classic guide PVR, remove the power for 30 seconds. If you have a new HD Guide PVR, you can hold the power button down on the remote for several seconds until it turns off and if you have the Gateway, you can use the reset button on the back of the Portal (hold it down for 6 seconds).
Let us know if this helps at all.
I had to reset everything (power off HD box, unplug expander, power on HD box and test that, then power off again, reconnect expander and power everything back on again). The remote was fine as it turned my TV off/on immediately. After the major reset (I have to move furniture to get at everything), the box seems to be responding normally again. Downside is my Guide is hooped for who knows how long. Thanks anyway.
Well good to hear it's responding quickly now. The guide information may take around 30 minutes to start populating and possibly a few hours to populate fully. You shouldn't see delays like this in the future, but in case you do, just go ahead and repeat those steps to take care of it.
