I'm only getting 2 - 25 Mb/s when I pay for Broadband 50. Normally it's only about 13 though.
I'd be happy to check your modem from our end for any possible issues with this. We'll also need to ensure that your modem bas been bridged, as if you're using your own router and the modem isn't bridge this could result in connection issues. If we're not able to find anything we would need to ask you to perform testing more through a hardwired connection as the next step. Please check your Community Inbox at the top, you'll find a direct message from me for some additional info.
Well those definitely aren't speeds we'd like to see. Are these speedtests done wireless or wired? Can you maybe share a screencap of a couple tests for us?
Normally I do them wirelessly, but even wired tests are the same. Also this has been happening since the beginning of the month.
Thanks. Can you also do a wired test so I can see if there is any variance at this time? Do you find it's happening just at certain times of day or consistent the entire day?
I can't do a wired test right now, as I don't have a working laptop (I'm using a desktop on a different floor using a WLAN card.). But this happens pretty much all day. And some days the internet will completely drop out dropout for about 15 minutes.
Hey xsilverxdarkx, some additional testing through a wired connection would be the next step, but I understand how that's not easy since you don't have a laptop and the desktop is on another floor. Are you using the Shaw modem for wireless here or do you have your own wireless router attached?
I'm using a third party router (Netgear WGR614v10), the modem/router (DPC3825) gave me a lot of NAT problems with my Xbox 360, and didn't have very good range either.
I did a speed test connected directly to the modem and got 53.24Mb/s down and 3.28Mb/s up. Guess I have to get a new router.
That is a Wireless G series, it definitely will not be able to allow full speed wireless, even wired, it is a little old for full speed
