My phone won't send email anymore. It's an iPhone 4 with iOS6. Our carrier is Telus and we have used Shaw mail for years so we don't want to change that. I've tried both configurations 1 and 2 on the Shaw instructions. Suggestions.
Your Shaw email account should work just fine on the iPhone, so I don't think you'll have to change that. Let's work on getting it back up and running.
Since you've tried both configurations so far, can you please double check and confirm that you have Remote Access enabled? That's commonly overlooked and is a necessary step in many cases.
If that doesn't help, please let me know all of the settings you are using, and which error message (if any) you are receiving.
I went to the remote access and it said I don't need to activate it for my style of phone. It said the phone was not provisioned whatever that meant. The error message is "the connection to the outgoing server failed" I have tried a number of outgoing server configurations. I learned that since it's telus the server may have to be a telus.net server instead of a mail.shaw.ca server. And I had updated my password so that it met the security requirements.
You could try to use the Telus server instead, but you do not have to. This is the reason for remote access - to use our outgoing mail server remotely (from another network like Telus). You will indeed need it for your iPhone, so let's try enabling it again please. The style of the phone doesn't much matter, the remote access feature applies to any device that you're using to send email from while connected to a network besides Shaw.
Okay, now that I know how to navigate in that Webmail remote access window, I realized that the device was already there. Went back into the phone, deleted the account, re-established an account with Exchange and voila, it seems to be working following the instructions on the Shaw page.
I have no idea what going on the remote access page did....but now the phone works. Is sending and receiving. Was previously using the pop/smtp setup. Had to change to exchange on my ipad too. Thanks for the help.

Remote Access is an option that we enable for your email account from our end. I see that you had registered your Community Profile with a Shaw email account; took a look and see that remote access has been enabled, thus you should be able to configure your email account with your Apple device.
