Audio and Video issues on Portal(s)

I'm having similar issues to others, where mostly audio (but occasional video) issues are encountered during playback and live TV. The audio will cut out for anywhere from 1 to 10 seconds and then returns. Occasionally the video image is lost altogether (not signal loss to TV or receiver, but snow on the screen - will take picture or video next time it happens). Even more rarer, is a 'signal loss' with the gateway, but happens occasionally.


I experience the same on both portals (it's noticeable more on the one used with the big TV and receiver, but we use it more).


Tech was out last weekend and replaced the portal with the newer 2150 portal, but the issues remain.He said it was an HDMI handshake issue without much investigation.


So question is, why would one think it is an HDMI handshake issue now? The wiring and equipment configuration hasn't changed in over 18 months, and it happens on three different devices, from two portals.


Equipment is:



Pioneer Receiver VSK-822-K

Sony TV:  KDL-46EX500



Samsung LN-T2332HX


No other external drive etc.
