continually dropping signal and TV freezing

since november we have been having trouble with our gateway TV system freezing and losing the signal. Before that, it was fine for 6 months. This can occur for 2 minutes or half an hour. Techs have been out twice to try and find and fix the problem.  One added a signal booster - although when the signal was there it was quite strong.  The next took this away and changed some wires. After the visit, it usually works OK for a week, then the signal starts to drop. This gets worse as time go buy such that it is hard to watch any program. We reboot - sometimes it helps for a while, sometimes not. I have noticed that the internet streaming (usually 2500kbps) also freezes and goes down to 250bps from time to time.  It is the inconsistency that sees to be the problem. Do you have any suggestions or advice of things it could be and how it can be fixed?
