Shawhelp said I could access internet by directly connecting to my modem until Shaw does a service call on Thursday. Using an older D-Link modem. It's not working. Ideas?

I would recommend disconnecting the power from the Shaw modem as well as restarting your computer. Hopefully that does the trick. Let us know how that goes.
You are using a D-Link modem? Or D-Link router?
If you are using a D-Link modem, which city are you in? What is the model?
