i am trying to hook up my digital box with a coax cable and my tv needs to do a channel scan, so i cannot set my tv to channel three until it scans and it won't scan without being hooked up.What am i supposed to do?
Which digital box are you using? If it has the RF (channel 3/4) output, connect it and do the scan, it should find it.
If your digital terminal (Shaw box) is connecting with 'Input' cables, post which model, and myself or someone else will look up the manual...
If it a manual can be found, I (or someone else) will reply back with the correct steps
If your TV is trying to run a channel scan then chances are it is not seeing the digital box. I would recommend that you check all the connections and make sure that the OUT coax from the digital terminal is connected to the IN on the TV. Also, make sure the cable box is powered on before turing on the TV. Can you also make sure the TV is on channel 3 as kevinds mentioned, this is the default output for our digital terminals.
If you are still running into issues the digital terminal should've come with compenant cables (color coated). You can also use these to connect the digital box to the TV. This should bypass the need for any channel scans as you will be on the Compent input vice Cable.
Thanks so much for the response! It turns out that we realized last night it was hooked up backwards, and it is working great now!
yes it does need a channel scan only in tv mode . But if you are hooked up with hdmi , RCA or RGB cable you need to change to that on your tv. hit the source button on remote and change to the one you have it hooked up to. Best hook up is HDMI then RGB and the RCA
