I have an Apple Extreme(5th generation) wifi router, now connecting to Shaw cable modem in bridge mode. Since the cable modem is controlling DHCP, I can not leverage the dual band network and guest network feature provided by my Apple Extreme. Apple support forum provided a solution to switch ISP cable modem to a simple modem so that Apple Extreme does the DHCP and assigns IP address, to make dual band network and guest network workable. Is this supported by Shaw to change my cable modem? Or there's other solution from Shaw?
Since Apple Extreme is pretty popular modem, and guest network is popular feature provided by most new 3rd party wifi router today, I think my question is quite common, right?
Thanks in advance!
