Hi, I am just trying out the new Superticker feature on my Gateway. In the weather and forecast sections it is automatically set to Boston, Massachusetts and I have no idea how to change it to Vancouver. Can someone help please?
We have made the changes and your weather should now default to Vancouver. Can you please verify for us that this issue is now resolved.
We have also updated other regions which include: Vancouver/Island, BC Interior Region, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Kenora and Hamilton.
You can cycle through the weather regions by hitting the up and down arrows when you see Boston. The mechanism for choosing the region by default looks at location and channel map. It then looks at what is the closest weather region that have similar patterns.
If you are living in vancouver and it is choosing boston by default, you might have a provisioning problem that is causing it to default to boston.
What area do you live in?
I was able to scroll through to find Vancouver (I'm in North Vancouver). It allows me to lock it to Vancouver but once I turn off the ticker or turn off the TV it reverts to showing Boston first and then I need to scroll through again to Vancouver. It isn't very user friendly but I am assuming it being a new feature that improvements will be made as time goes on. Thanks.
CAn you dm me your account number, and we will check your settings and configuration. This to me sounds like a backend config issue, that we Can fix. Besides the weather, what local news is being used? Vancouver's or something else?
Had a look at your config, and all seems to be in order. There are two maps for north van, and the one that you are on has a region code that may not be configured properly to receive Vancouver Weather. We are verifying that with Arris and if there is an issue, will try and get that corrected asap.
Will let you know when we hear something from arris. This may take a few days to hear back from them.
We have finally found root cause to your issue. The Region code that your channel map for AccuWeather is using is set to VUO. The codes that are used are Airport codes, and after doing some searches, that would be the wrong code for Vancouver, BC, but is the code for Vancouver, Washington.
In addition because your reported this problem, we also discovered some other anomalies with other regions, so we will be putting together a change plan for Arris to execute. This could however take some time to resolve, but wanted to let you know our findings. We will keep you updated if anything changes or when the fix is deployed.
Sorry for the inconvenience this has brought.
Yes, everything works as it should and I want to thank you for your excellent customer service. I am very impressed with the follow-up which has not always been the case with Shaw. You are an asset to the company.
Thanks for the kind words and for reporting the problem.
