Have you found a solution to this problem? I am having the same issues , not being able to download any documents on my Shaw mail using Windows 8.
There is a solution - upgrade the Zimbra server software Shaw uses - however this seems to be going nowhere. Shaw is currently running Zimbra 7.1.4 which was released over 2 years ago, no upgrades in sight.
There are updates planned to correct this issue, we will be sure to post an update here on the Community once we have further information to share. There is work currently being done towards resolving this issue.
A good alternative until this is fixed is to download Windows Live Mail from the Windows Live Essentials web site and use that instead. Windows Essentials - Download Windows Live Essentials
