If I was to take my system the USA for a few months, would my Shaw direct TV and Internet still function? Should there be any additional costs?
I do believe it can! Our Shaw Direct mod donovon will be in tomorrow and can make sure you have all the right info you need. To the best of my knowledge, as long as the satellite dish can get a signal you can be operational.
Not sure about internet? Who is your internet provider?
Shaw Direct will work in the US, Mexico and Northern South America, but after you leave Canada and the very northern parts of the US, you won't get signal from the G1 satellite anymore, so a lot of the HD channels won't be available.
Also, Shaw Direct will give you no support, they don't like their service being used outside of Canada
Thanks for your question. kevinds gave a very explicit response. Because Shaw Direct is a Canadian service provider, we cannot offer assistance for those customers who choose to utilize our equipment and programming outside of our designated service area. I just want to make sure you're fully aware and not caught off guard.
Best of luck!
What I was looking at for system was for my RV. Working in the oil patch I spend a lot of time living in it and I would need TV and Internet. But if I travel down to the USA on a one or two month holiday, will I still have access to my internet and TV? I am still a Canadian and I live in Canada but I might want to go to Arizona or some place and still have access. Is this an issue?
As long as you don't need to tell Shaw you are in the USA, everything will work, except the channels from the new satellite.
