I lose tv signal every 10 minutes as my digital box recycles or reboots itself......now what????
Can you please try disconnecting your Expander entirely to see if the box still reboots without it? That'll help quite a bit in narrowing down the cause.
What digital box model do you have?
Try disconnecting the power cable from the digital box for 30 seconds and then plugging it back in and check if that resolves the issue. Also where is the power cable from the digital box plugged into? direct to the wall outlet? or to a power bar? If possible, try plugging the power cable in another outlet to test.
Motorola........I have unplugged box numerous times and given a minute to reset it. Also tried your "change outlet" recommendation as it was in power bar and now direct to wall........still losing signal every 10.Have also followed shaw directions re rebooting my expander.
That did it........no longer rebooting now that expander is unplugged (power and SATA cable). Is my expander damaged?
Hard to say whether it's damaged at this point. I've got a thorough reset process in mind here which may help. Let's give this a shot if you haven't already done so please:
1.) Unplug power from the HD box and Expander
2.) Unplug the SATA cable at both ends
3.) Plug power back to the Expander, let it power up on its own for 2 minutes
4.) Plug the SATA cable back in at both ends
5.) Plug the HD box back in
6.) Choose No if prompted to format
having gone through your process above, it is back to losing signal every 10 minutes with expander hooked up.
Good morning msimons33
That is unfortunate but at least you know where the issue lies. If you aren't concerned about losing the recordings you have saved to the expander you could try the steps Colin suggested again but this time say "Yes" when asked to reformat. I cannot guarantee this will resolve this issue but it may be worth a try.
Let us know how it goes.
