Publishing to webspace with Frontpage extensions enabled

I created a webspace for one of our email accounts, used ftp to publish successfully.  However, I've decided it's much easier publishing directly from Frontpage, with FP extensions installed.  I went back to revise the webspace to enable Frontpage extensions. I'm just wondering if there is a delay in actually having them enabled, because my FP still thinks the extensions aren't installed on the server.  I'm publishing to http://members.shaw.ca/username/.  FP gives the message that the extensions aren't installed, and to try specifying a location that will work with FTP.  So I tried using ftp.shaw.ca, and the message was that the server had unexpectedly closed the connection.

Does anyone have any experience with this?  I tried searching the community for "front page" and front page, and found nothing.
