Hello, I have no home phone service in medicine hat. Any reasons why?
We are currently investigating an issue with phone services in Edmonton and possibly other areas. When I have more information I will update the services alert found here Edmonton - Interruption to phone service.
Thank you. It's weird an outage in Edmonton can effect me in Southern Alberta over 5 hours away!
Looks like this issue is affecting more than just Edmonton customers. I'm just waiting on confirmation and then I will have an announcement posted.
Why is that you guys don't care about notifying everybody, through e-mail of this irregularities, just when they are happening. It is pretty unpleasant to get to the telephone and not being able even to call your service department.
As far as I remember this is something call "service" and also P.R.
Good afternoon gchavez
I completely understand your frustration but this was not a planned outage so we were unable to provide notification to customers this time. Future planned alerts or changes will be announced here Service Updates.
We are talking about two completely different issues here.
What I'm saying is that you guys at Shaw should have to notify, immediately, through e-mail to all your customers about this kind problems, just at the moment that they occur, and whatever that could be the cause for them.
I am not going to be checking on the "service updates" for failures on providing your services , which as I said before I would consider is your obligation to inform your customers. I have to say that regular maintenance on your equipment is usually notify through e-mail and it is O.K.
But, as I said before it is just a matter of "real service" to inform your customers, on time, about situations like this that could be creating all sort of problems for them, like it was the case with today failures on the lack of telephone services for several hours.
Perhaps if you take this issue with the top executives on your company, they would see this as a real "public relations" problem with your customers.
If I were one of them I certainly would like to know about this odd issues and would create a solution for them!
Hello again gchavez
I understand your point and agree that informing customers of any interruptions to services is extremely important. We have found that mass email notifications are not the best way to inform customers as they would be inundated with information not relevant to them. The platform we have here on the Community allows customers to chose information they would like to see instead of receiving 100's of emails with information that is not pertinent to them. You can sign up for email notification through the Shaw Community which will allow you to track alerts specific to your area. One of our Moderators has explained how to do this here Re: Planned Outages?
Hope that helps but please let us know if you have further questions or concerns!
