can i text from my email to an ipod touch
The phone number for the iPod only works for texting from another apple device such as another iPod, iPhone, or iPad. This is because the iMessage program is a built in feature that Apple has provided within it's operating system.
The reason you cannot e-mail to this number is because the number is only used within the Apple network and is not a valid e-mail address. In order to e-mail out of webmail you must be sending an e-mail to a valid e-mail address that contains the account name and the domain the e-mail must go to; such as email@example.com.
The e-mail client or as known on Apple devices as Mail, is a program that would allow the user to send and receive emails while connected to the Internet with their iPod.
At this time Shaw webmail does not have a built in text function that will allow you to text an iPod. Currently that sort of ability is only available between iOS devices.
However, if the individual on the iPod had set-up the email client then you do have the ability to email them directly from webmail.
I have a number (like a phone number) for the ipod touch, does that count? Not really sure what 'email client' means...thanks
Thanks for the info. I can use that number to text from my regular cel phone ( which is not an apple product) but I see what you mean about the emails. Thanks again willie
